Our Association is seeking expressions of interest from Gellatly Bay Goats Peak residents who would like to put their name forward to run for a position on our Board of Directors. Positions are a one year term and include:
- President
- Treasurer
- Secretary
- Director(s)
As well, you may have noticed that our website is not up to date. We are seeking a volunteer with technical skills to post updates, including our annual powerpoint presentation to the city. We would also appreciate a volunteer with Zoom experience to help with our upcoming AGM.
We encourage you to consider volunteering as a director because:
- We need a community association to advocate on our behalf, and to work with other neighbourhood associations for the common interests of the residents of our city. In particular we would like representation from all corners of our Gellatly Bay Goats Peak community.
- As an association we are invited by the city to participate in focus groups and provide feedback, beyond the usual public consultation process.
- We have an opportunity to present to our city council at a Committee of the Whole Meeting every year, and to raise concerns specific to our community.
- Our city councilors are supportive of the neighbourhood associations and open to addressing our concerns. Thank you to all of our members who have sent emails to the city. Together, we can make a difference!
On average the Board meets three to four times a year and presents annually to the City/Council (or as required). The Board also consults regularly via email when matters important to the Association’s mandate arise.
If you are interested in joining the GBGPCA Board of Directors please submit your intention to stand for election to the Association via email at gellatlybaycommunity@gmail.com with the subject “Interest to Join Board of Directors”. Your submission should contain a short resume, the position of interest, and a summary of relevant background.
Be advised that our bylaws provide that the maximum number of Directors allowed is 9. The association’s bylaws state there be a minimum of 3 and maximum of 9 Board of Directors. Elections of the new GBGPCA Board of Directors will take place at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) typically held each November.
