The City of West Kelowna is moving forward with two major planning initiatives that will guide how and where the city will grow and how people get around. Phase 1 of the Transportation Master Plan (TMP) Update and Phase 3 of the Official Community Plan (OCP) Update are now open for public input.
“Together as a community, we established West Kelowna’s first-ever Community Vision and now we invite residents to participate in updating our Official Community Plan and Transportation Master Plan, which are important guiding documents for our city as we continue to grow,” says Mayor Gord Milsom.
The OCP guides the City’s housing, business, infrastructure and parks decisions for the next 20 years, and the proposed future land use identifies four key ideas:
- Two urban centres
- Five neighbourhood centres
- Infill housing
- The West Kelowna Business Park
The TMP is being developed in conjunction with the City’s Official Community Plan (OCP) Update. This phase of the TMP is focused on understanding current transportation challenges and identifying opportunities for improvements. Later stages will recommend a future transportation network, based on how and where the City plans future growth.
