The City of West Kelowna Mayor and Council has reached out to our association seeking applicants from our membership to take part in the Council Remuneration Task Force.
The purpose of the Task Force is to review the current Council remuneration bylaw and expense reimbursement policy and provide recommendations for implementation of a remuneration structure for the new term of Council in January 2023. The Task Force will include five (5) individuals and their role is to advise Council on their findings and recommendations regarding the remuneration structure. The outcome will recommend, if needed, a fair and reasonable remuneration for performing duties of Council, and reimbursement of expenses that Council incurs in fulfilling their responsibilities for the City of West Kelowna. The five (5) individuals will be selected from the Greater Westside Board of Trade, a service group as well as two (2) members from neighbourhood community associations and one (1) member at large. Members must not be currently elected at any level of government or be a current staff member at the City of West Kelowna. Members must not have a direct or indirect pecuniary interest in the outcome of the recommendation.
The Task Force will be confirmed by Council at the February 8, 2022, Regular Council Meeting. Task Force Meetings will be held in person in Council Chambers on Tuesday’s (February 15, March 1, March 15 and March 29, 2022). Council will consider the recommendations at the April 5 and May 10, 2022, Regular Council Meetings.
