We have recently become aware of an opportunity to participate in public engagement for West Kelowna’s upcoming Official Community Plan (OCP). The OCP is important because it provides guidance to the city and developers on what the citizens desire for the growth and development of our city. This is happening now and is open for a very short time. Public engagement consists of two parts: Pop ups and online. The first pop ups are today, Friday October 1, followed by four others this weekend at:
- Mt. Boucherie Sports Park, Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 – 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Rose Valley Trails Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021 – 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Nesters Market, Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021 – 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
If you would like your wishes for thoughtful development to be heard, we encourage you to stop by one of these events tomorrow. The Gellatly Bay Goats Peak Community Association strongly advocates for:
- No high rises or high density by the lake
- Preserve our parks, lakefront and beaches for the citizens of West Kelowna
If you can’t make it out to a pop-up location between October 1st and 3rd then we encourage you to participate in the online activities that can be accessed through the Official Community Plan Update Project Webpage, www.ourwk.ca/ocp. The online participation option will end on October 11th so be sure to add your comments and ideas before then.
Thank you for participating!
