Project Background – Gellatly Road

Several years ago there was an extensive public consultation process with open houses, surveys and finally, a City of West Kelowna public hearing which resulted in the 2017 Gellatly Village update to the Official Community Plan (OCP). It called for low rise, low density development for Gellatly Village. Following is the link to the official plan: https://www.westkelownacity.ca/en/city-hall/resources/Documents/0100-Official-Community-Plan—Section-3.pdf . If you read Section 3, Objectives and Policies, Gellatly Bay is specifically addressed in 3.2.2 (a).

In August 2020 a photographer/designer appeared at the Pointe strata, taking pictures looking down on the boat storage yard. A couple weeks later the same individual returned, taking pictures from the other end of the Pointe and told a resident that he was designing two eleven story highrises.

Proposed Gellatly Road Development

Upon checking with the city, we learned that a delegation had already made a presentation to city council proposing a development with a two-story commercial level and two nine story towers above (11 stories in total). This delegation’s presentation from the meeting on November 21, 2019 can be viewed by selecting item 6.1 in the link below:
